Neckline Options for Plus Size Wedding Dresses
Choosing a wedding dress is a combination of elation and excitement. All of those emotions can be even more pronounced if your body does not fit the magazine mold. That stunning dress that looks great on a size 8 may not be quite so flattering on a size 16 girl. When you are looking for a plus size wedding dress, every little detail can make the difference between âjust a wedding dressâ and âwhat a gorgeous bride!â
One of those small details that is often overlooked when choosing a wedding gown is the neckline. Consider the effect of the neckline on your overall wedding day look. The neckline of your wedding dress frames your face, helps create balance and determines the jewelry and hairstyle that you wear on your big day. There many styles of necklines that are excellent options for the plus size bride. If you are uncertain which necklines looks best on your figure, here is a quick overview of the various styles of necklines from which you can choose.
Portrait Necklines
Portrait necklines are flattering to just about any figure style. The portrait neckline is a variation of the off-the-shoulder style. It is a lovely compromise between a strapless look, that shows a little too much, and a covered-up style, that can make you look a bit top-heavy. Portrait necklines are an especially good choice for the plus size bride who wants to avoid bare upper arms but wants to show off her shoulders and neck. A portrait neckline is also a great choice if you want to wear a dress that lengthens your neck and frames beautiful neckwear.
Bateau Necklines
Bateau necklines are similar to portrait necklines and they are a great choice for brides that want to minimize the size of their bust. Unlike the portrait style, which is completely off the shoulder, a bateau neckline attaches at the very edge of the shoulder and creates a barely curving line across the bust. The line creates a long, slim neck and draws the eyes up to your face and away from a wide shoulder line.
Sweetheart Necklines
Sweetheart necklines are ideal for women with large busts because the shape offers coverage and support while still revealing a bit of the neckline. The sweetheart takes its name from the shape of the neckline, which curves up over the tops of the breasts and dips down in the center, framing and shaping the bust. While it is often seen on strapless wedding gowns, there are also many sleeved wedding gowns with sweetheart necklines. This shape also helps create the illusion of a long neck and frames the face and neck beautifully.
Scoop Necklines
Scoop necklines are attractive on nearly any figure type and it works with many styles of sleeves. They can reveal just a little skin or they can be cut much deeper, revealing more of the neckline. If you decide on a wedding gown with a scoop neckline, you should have a wide choice of gown styles from which to choose.
Square Necklines
Square necklines create a straight line across the bodice and right angles at the corners of the neck. While they can be flattering for most figure types, brides with broad shoulders may want to avoid them because they tend to widen the shoulder line. By contrast, they are an excellent choice for the bride who wants to balance a wide skirt and make her bust and shoulders appear wider.
Strapless Bodices
Strapless bodices create a horizontal line across the body at the upper arms. Traditional fashion wisdom suggests that larger size brides might want to avoid them. Strapless styles are suggested for brides with âwell-toned armsâ because the eye is drawn there. Many variations are also available that modify the neckline, making it more flattering. Consider, for instance, a strapless sweetheart neckline, or one that curves slightly upward at the center and dips lower under the arms. If you have your heart set on a strapless gown, consider making small changes to draw the eye toward the center of your body and away from your upper arms.
Halter Necklines
Halter necklines are another option that many fashion mavens do not suggest for plus size brides, especially those with broad shoulders. Generally, halter necklines call attention to the upper body, especially the arms and shoulders. Depending on the style of the halter, they may shorten your neck, which is not always flattering to a larger woman. Like the strapless bodice, though, there are ways to modify a halter neckline and make it more flattering to any figure type.
High Collar Necklines
High collar necklines create a formal look to your wedding gown. Depending on the cut of the gown, this can be a very flattering look for the plus-size bride, or it can emphasize the width of shoulders. The only way to be sure whether a high collar neck is flattering is to take into account the overall style of the dress.

Flower Girl Dresses for Traditional Weddings
Flower girls are usually between three and eight years old. These adorable little show stoppers put a smile on your guests faces as they walk down the aisle, leaving a lovely path of petals. There are so many beautiful flower girl dress options available that it’s easy to feel overwhelmed in your search. If you’re having a traditional wedding, how can you be sure that your flower girl’s dress conveys your theme? Here are a few simple tips for choosing beautiful flower girl dresses for traditional weddings.
In a traditional wedding, a flower girl’s dress is typically the same color or shade as the bridal gown, usually in tones of ivory or white. The conventional flower girl dress also includes details that emulate the bride’s gown, such as beading, lace and embroidery work. A splash of color could be added with a beautiful sash that can coordinate with the bridesmaids’ dresses.
Flower Girl Dress Styles and Details
The detailing of a traditional flower girl’s dress is important. The length of her dress could range from knee length, tea length or down to the floor. Keep in mind that if your flower girl is very young, you may not want a floor length dress. She should be able to move easily, without the risk of tripping or stumbling on her dress. Many brides opt for flower girl dresses that echo the wedding gown. Modifications can be made to make the dress more appropriate for a small girl. Plunging necklines, for example, or off the shoulder sleeves can be altered for a more conservative look.
Traditional flower girl dresses feature full skirts, ruffles, frilly sleeves and demure necklines. But there’s lots of room to get creative, even within the traditional style.
A sleeveless satin bodice with accompanying satin skirt overlaid in organza would be flattering on any flower girl while maintaining the traditional feel of the wedding. A simple sleeveless pinafore dress that buttons down the back lends itself to these fabrics beautifully. Look for dresses that have skirts containing at least three tiers in the back of the skirt and one in front. Add traditional accents like bows, fabric flowers and a sash, and the look is complete.
Your flower girl can also look lovely and elegant in a simple dress consisting of a full satin skirt overlaid in organza. To keep the dress traditional, it should be floor length and embellished with spaghetti straps and a sash. This look is tasteful, elegant and traditional. It could also be teamed with an organza shoulder wrap, which could be removed after the ceremony.
For a classically traditional look, a split A-line embroidered skirt is a perfect selection, particularly when paired with an embroidered satin bodice.
During the cooler seasons, the traditional look lends itself perfectly to long sleeves, voluminous gathered skirts or dress styles that can be paired with a light jacket or bolero. You can keep your little girl flower girl warm while maintaining her traditional look. The cooler weather is also ideal for beautiful winter weight fabrics, such as velvet and faux fur.
Of course, you’ll want to be sure that your flower girl is comfortable on the big day. It’s a good idea to choose soft textures and steer clear of fabrics that don’t breathe well. No matter how pretty her dress is, your flower girl won’t be happy if she’s stuck in an uncomfortable dress all day long.
Traditional Flower Girl Themes
There are a wide variety of themes that fall under the traditional category, which means that you can have some fun with your flower girl dress and still keep it traditional. Whether your theme is romantic, floral, seasonal or fairytale, you can find amazing flower girl dresses that will wow your guests.
Accessories can make a big impact on flower girl dresses. Jewelry, ribbons, flowers, hair bands and shoes with matching stocking or socks are just a few of the ways that you can make your flower girl dress convey a traditional tone. Generally, jewelry should be subtle, understated and age appropriate, small and not too extravagant.
Hairstyles should remain natural and simple. Whether the style is swept up or long and flowing, a flower girl’s hair should complement her dress without being too mature. Traditional flower girl shoes are patent leather and are paired with either frilly ankle socks or tights. Ballet slippers are another popular accompaniment for a traditional dress and are usually worn with matching tights.
And increasing number of brides are choosing traditional weddings, and there are many designers who offer superb collections of traditional flower girl dresses. The ideal traditional flower girl dress is fun, youthful and delicate.

Choosing Wedding Hair Styles – 9 Tips To Select A Gorgeous Style
On the wedding day every girl wishes to look at her best. After all, it is the most cherished moment of her life. It is the day when she would commit her love for her groom amidst their family, relatives & friends. On this day even the very pretty looking girls plan on their looks so much so that they look different from the usual & phenomenally beautiful of course.
The decisions that you take for this day are very important & are equally risky as well. With out a good professional advice choosing your make up & style for the wedding is a real tough one. And in our fast lives today it is indeed very tough to chalk the time to try on every possible make up & hair style & then decide for your self!
So, to keep up with the latest bridal trends, better set aside some budget for the professional stylist to help you with your make up & hairstyle.
Following below are some tips to help you make the key decisions regarding your hair styling & make up for the day of the wedding:
1. Choose some natural looking make up
No on would like to look like a heavily painted doll when the guests come close to greet the couple. So you must choose a very natural looking make up for your self. You must also take care that the make up you choose must look great in the wedding pictures.
2. Get a facial done.
Facial eliminates all the stress marks caused on the face due to the tensions of the preparing of the wedding. It cleanses your skin & makes you look brighter for the big day.
3. Have enough time on hand.
You must make sure to have enough time for your make up & hair dressing. Visit your hair stylist at least six weeks prior to the wedding so that they can go ahead with some minor changes needed in the hair. Also, in case you are planning to change your hair style, the hair color, or the length of the hair, you might also need time up to 6 months or so.
4. Meet the hair dresser & seek an appointment.
You must prefer a hair dresser recommended by some one close in the friends and / or family. While we all seek appointment for the wedding day, seek some extra appointments and show the professional some snaps of the kind of style, dress & head pieces you wish to have on your big day. Also discuss with the professional in detail regarding the apt color, texture & style.
5. For permed or relaxed hair
In case you plan to have permed or relaxed hair, discuss it with your hair stylist. Check if they think that this procedure is safe or would it damage your hair. Damaged hair of course would never look good & they are also very difficult to style. Nowm still if you want to try these, make sure you have enough time on hand in case the experiment turns a flop for any reason.
6. Coloring your hair.
Let the professional help you decide the shade in case you are thinking of dyeing or coloring your hair. The shade you choose must suit your skin tone & the color of your eyes. Also make sure that you first try the shade you decide on with the temporary dye first.
7. Hair Style must match with the cut of your wedding gown.
Make sure that the hair style you choose is quite in tandem with the cuts & shape of your wedding gown. For instance, with a simple gown, go for something very uncomplicated. You must also make sure that the hair style you choose does not call for much care as on your big day you shall have ‘n’ number of things to take of.
8. For the short hair.
Those girls who have short hair may try highlighting to ad some richness to their style. Try undergoing some hair treatments or with a professional advice use some products that would add shine to your hair. For short hair other tips to get that glory are getting a multi-textured look done or may be putting up some flowers.
9. For the long hair.
Those who have long hair can try some very elegant & classy looks with their hair tied up with a rich style. This makes the job of handling the hair quite easy as well, as the day for you would be too long with numerous other things to look up to.
Now along with these tips, gather as much information as you can from a professional hair stylist and get started with the planning of your big day in full fling!

Bridesmaid Dresses for a Formal Wedding
One of the most important aspects to consider when planning a wedding is choosing your bridesmaid dresses. The overall style of your wedding can be seen by your guests through your bridesmaid dress designs. After the bride, the bridesmaids’ dresses are among the most visible aspects of your wedding. Your bridesmaids will precede you down the aisle, and appear in almost all of your photographs and memories from your special day. For an extremely formal wedding, it is important to choose bridesmaid dresses that are beautiful and elegant to tie in with the theme of your wedding.
Typically for formal weddings, long or floor length bridesmaid dresses are accepted. Many believe that formal weddings are almost the only place where long bridesmaid dresses are used. Floor length bridesmaid dresses can help you to portray the idea of elegance and sophistication. Paired with the perfect hairstyle, shoes, and flowers, elegant dresses can help your guests visualize the gracefulness that your wedding day is representing.
Even though longer bridesmaid dresses are characteristically seen at formal weddings, many individuals opt for using shorter length bridesmaid dresses for their nuptials. Tea length and shorter dresses can be suitable for formal weddings, especially if they are in dark, rich colors. A short dress might be perfect for your bridal party if the color and design coordinates well with the theme and idea of your wedding. It is important to remember that this is your wedding, and you should be choosing only options that are going to make you happy. Bridesmaid dresses for a formal wedding can be just about any length, as long as you keep in mind the formality that your chosen dress is portraying.
It is also important to pay particular attention to the style of your bridesmaid dresses when it comes to a formal wedding. When you are perusing various styles of bridesmaid dresses, there are a few things that you should keep in mind, including the fit of the gown. Many bridesmaid gowns at formal weddings are form fitting, flowing, or often high waist gowns. If you choose to have a formal wedding try to think about attire that women would wear for red carpet events or a night at the theater. If you are having a formal wedding, it is your night to walk down the red carpet and to ensure that your bridesmaids look as fabulous as you do.
In general, you want to think about bridesmaid dresses for a very formal wedding as a way to promote the formality of your event. Therefore, color is going to be a very important component to contemplate. For most formal weddings, somber colors such as black, deep blues or purples are usually used. There are some exceptions, however, such as shades of silver and gold. For the most part, formal bridesmaid dresses should be darker colors, keeping in mind the elegance of a black-tie affair.
When putting together your formal bridesmaid attire, you also want to incorporate accessories such as shoes, jewelry and flowers, that will work together to complete the look. Most of the time, a dress is just a dress. However, when you add to the look it helps to portray the impression that you are trying to achieve. The shoe you choose is really going to make a difference when it comes to the formality of the ceremony. Flat shoes or strappy sandals are not going to be as formal as a beautiful high heeled pump might be. Also, for a formal wedding, you might decide to have your bridesmaids wear extravagant jewelry such as diamond necklaces, bracelets, or eye-catching earrings. For a wedding that is less formal, different jewelry will be appropriate. The flowers that you choose will also add to the elegance of your bridesmaids’ appearance. A dress that is very formal will usually be accompanied by more formal looking flowers such as lilies or white roses. Adding a ribbon or other special tie around the bouquets can also add to the overall look. A less formal bridesmaid dress can be accompanied by less formal flowers such as daisy’s or carnations.
Overall, when it comes to bridesmaid dresses, it is up to you to make sure that the dress you choose portrays the overall elegance and formality of your wedding. Adding little touches and accessories such as jewelry, flowers and shoes can help complete the overall look you are trying to achieve.

Want A Beach Themed Wedding But Do Not Have The Budget? Create Your Own Beach Themed Wedding Right At Home
A tropical wedding in Hawaii, Florida or on some other beautiful, exotic island seems like the most perfect and romantic way to exchange vows with the love of your life. Many people dream of this type of wedding and while some can afford the budget of transporting the bridal party and the guests to a far off exotic destination most couples are not equipped with this type of budget. But just because your finances will not allow for a beach themed wedding in a far away place it should not stop you from having a beach themed wedding in a not so beached themed place.
Beach themed wedding are relaxing and carefree while at the same time romantic and whimsical. This type of environment can be created just about anywhere to provide a beach feel to a wedding that is far from the actual beach. First, you must decide where to position your wedding ceremony as well as reception. Many of the most common attributes of a beach include water, sand and seashells. Now while most people will not be able to haul in tons of sand to create the perfect beach themed wedding it is often easy to find a location with water. Check your local area for great waterfalls or beautiful lakes. These natural water locations can be incorporated into your beach theme to make it more realistic.
Once you find the perfect location for your beach themed wedding try incorporating things such as a sail boat, if you chose a lake. You can choose to get married on the sail boat if you are having a small wedding or find a location that has sailboats in the background such as getting married on a boat dock with the sailboats in the background.
Attire for the wedding will be the second biggest creative aspect to emphasize a beach theme. The bridal party can create the tone by dressing in casual wedding wear and possibly incorporating beach flowers into hairstyles and bouquets. The guests should also be notified that the wedding has a beach theme through the use of beach themed invitations so they are able to dress in casual Hawaiian style shirts or casual dresses for the occasion.
The reception is also a great opportunity to show your guests how creative you are with your beach themed wedding. An outdoor wedding reception with beautiful white tents would create the perfect environment. Tropical drinks are a must at the wedding reception as well as tropical music to complete the environment. Try decorating the reception tables with beach themed wedding favors to accentuate the tables while at the same time providing a gift to your wedding guests that incorporates your theme.
The ideas are endless because the perfect environment can be created anywhere with a little imagination. You can still have your perfect wedding environment without the high cost of travelling to actually get there.

Wear Jewelry Like Eva Longoria – How to Guide
Okay, so we’ll admit that Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria is beautiful no matter what jewelry she wears â in fact she could probably hang a pair of old sneakers around her neck and still look great â but we believe that’s because she knows how to make those tennis treads look their best, and not the other way around. The following four tips will help you make the most of your jewelry too.
1. One Hairstyle Per Night
Have you ever seen Eva unclip a gorgeous updo mid-red carpet? Or sweep her locks into a ponytail halfway through a Spurs game? Neither have we. Nor do we expect to anytime soon, due to a fact that the rest of us fidgety, hairband-toting ladies seem to have forgotten: If you choose a hairstyle before you leave the house, not only will your hair-free hands display confidence and allow you to hold your cocktail (and his), you will have had the advantage of choosing jewelry for that hairstyle in front of a mirror. While we’re at it, we’re going to suggest that when your hair is down, feel free to wear something a bit shinier and showier, so that it is not lost underneath the tresses. On the other hand, err on the subtler side when your ears and neckline are exposed. Too much bling will take away from the real gem (you).
2. Big Should Be Beautiful
Eva’s defined cheekbones and oval face combine to create negative space along her chinbone where big hoops and long dangles hang. In this case, bigger earrings give length to her face (where smaller ones have the opposite effect), but there is a risk in that any bigger piece of jewelry draws a lot of attention. So we suggest that, much like our favorite actress, you don’t just throw any old pair of earrings in before you leave the house. The earrings Eva chooses are always confident, graceful and of earthy stones like chalcedony and citrineâ¦qualities that many would also attribute to Eva herself. This combination of accessories complements, not overwhelms, the face it hangs from.
3. Simple Should Be Striking
Recently, Eva was photographed with a large Green Quartz and layered gold pendant necklace. Pendant necklaces offer an opportunity for personalization that other designs don’t because gemstones come in all sizes, shapes and colors. So if green makes your skin look wan, choose amethyst or topaz instead. If you prefer a stand alone gold chain, go for it. The point is not to copy Eva exactly, but to embrace the elements that make her jewelry work â the beauty of a single, visible stone, enhanced but not outdone by a delicate chain, will only be upstaged by your own radiant face.
4. Personalize the Engagement Ring
Honestly, we doubt that many of our readers are about to receive a ring made of 148 diamonds, or for that matter, marry an NBA star. But we do think you should feel like a celebrity during your engagement, and Eva has shown us that the trick is to make the ring as personal as Tony did. Eva’s darker skin tone cries out for diamonds, so it makes sense that her ring would carry so many. Another option is to select a whiter metal, like sterling silver or platinum, for a band that will stand out on her finger. If your skin is already pale enough, flank the diamond with a couple of small, colorful gemstones and a gold band. This will make the diamond pop, no matter its size.
In true Hollywood style, Tony went overboard by engraving a message (in his own handwriting!) inside the shank of the ring. We like a comparable, but less pricey italicized inscription on the inside of the band. Think of it as a private message that your finger can read day after day.
